Job Summary:
As a Hostess in the hospitality field, you will be the first point of contact for guests, responsible for creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. You will greet and seat guests in a friendly and efficient manner, ensuring smooth flow and optimal seating arrangements to maximize guest satisfaction and dining capacity. Additionally, you will provide support to Food & Beverage service associates, helping coordinate table assignments and contributing to a seamless and enjoyable dining experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all activities and guest interactions adhere to JA Resorts & Hotels’ quality standards at all times.
- Maintain thorough awareness of restaurant layout, floor plan, and table configurations to optimize seating capacity and turnover.
- Greet and seat guests promptly and professionally, creating a warm and welcoming first impression.
- Operate and maintain an effective reservation system to manage guest flow, maximize covers, and accommodate guest preferences.
- Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the dining experience, especially upon departure; escalate any issues to the Supervisor or Line Manager.
- Build rapport with first-time and returning guests through personalized service, recognition, and professional communication.
- Support service colleagues with table or counter service of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as needed.
- Assist in delivering food and beverage items to guests when required to support the smooth operation of service.
- Continuously develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of the menu, including food and beverage offerings.
- Provide guests with accurate menu information and thoughtful recommendations based on their preferences.
- Record loyalty card details and maintain an organized reservation and guest history log.
- Maintain and update physical and digital menus as necessary, ensuring accuracy and presentation standards.
- Follow the hotel’s lost and found procedures meticulously.
- Ensure daily newspaper stands are updated and background music levels are appropriate to enhance the guest experience.
Experience and Skills
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational Diploma or Certificate in Hospitality or related field (preferred).
Qualifications
- HACCP – Basic Certification.
- Food Hygiene – Basic Certification.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar hostess or guest service role within a comparable hospitality property or rating.
- Proven background in customer service or front-of-house positions, preferably in a hotel or upscale restaurant environment.
- Familiarity with cashiering procedures and basic point-of-sale operations.
Computer Skills
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Language Skills
- Intermediate-level English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Additional languages are an asset and preferred in a multicultural guest environment.
