Job Description
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the dining room layout, table/seat/section numbers, proper table setups, room capacity, hours of operation, price range, and dress code.
- Understand restaurant reservation procedures thoroughly.
- Keep track of daily house count, arrivals, departures, and VIP guests.
- Be aware of scheduled in-house group activities, including locations and times.
- Adhere to all department policies and service procedures.
- Answer the telephone within three rings, using correct salutations and telephone etiquette.
- Record and confirm restaurant reservations and cancellations in accordance with departmental standards.
- Communicate any reservation or cancellation changes to management promptly throughout the shift.
- Monitor the preparation of assigned tasks, ensuring compliance with departmental standards.
- Ensure that menus and check folders are clean and available in sufficient quantity.
- Keep the hostess stand clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Review the reservation book, pre-assign designated tables, and follow up on all special requests.
- Greet guests warmly at the entrance of the restaurant.
- Seat guests according to the floor plan, ensuring fair distribution among servers.
- Escort guests to their designated tables.
- Confirm that guests are satisfied with their seating arrangements.
- Present the open menu to guests.
- Ensure tables are set to the highest standard for guest service.
- Anticipate busy periods and organize procedures to manage waiting lines efficiently.
- Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge them courteously regardless of how busy or what time of day it is.
Qualifications
- Ideally with a relevant degree or diploma in Hospitality or Tourism management.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in hotel operations. Good customer service, communications, and interpersonal skills are a must.
