About the Unit

Retail Credit Operation (RCO) is responsible for end-to-end processing for Retail Asset products - Conventional and Islamic products for Emirates NBD and Emirates Islamic retail segments for Personal Loan, Auto Loan, Home Loan, Credit Card, Overdraft. RCO plays an important role in the organization success, well-versed with the processes and system knowledge, inventive approach to handle the challenging situation, implement new project/initiatives & streamlining the processes in partnership with the group.

Key activities performed for loan/card onboarding life cycle are – Data entry, dedupe, underwriting, customer/employer verification, disbursal, cards onboarding, overdraft, auto loan and mortgage hypothecation, contractor payments and after sales transactions.

About the Role

The job is essential in modern day Banking industry, there is a huge demand for such specialized roles and with the launch of digital channels across all products. This role becomes even more critical to ensure influx of such frauds is being managed proactively and to minimize operational losses. Here are some key deliverables of this role.

  • Operational Risk Management – While managing Risk and Control function for RCO, develop and implement robust operational risk management frameworks. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify and prioritize potential operational risks, implemented multiple control measures to mitigate those risks. Introduced a regular review process by setting up a quality assurance team by way of sampling and exception reports. Participate in Operational risk committee and deliver multiple risk related projects and assigned action for the unit. Create a risk-awareness culture within the organization and drive the key value of our organization “ WE ARE ALERT”
  • Fraud Risk Management – Establish and enhance fraud risk management programs for both the bank (Emirates NBD and Emirates Islamic) in collaboration with key stakeholders. Led the efforts to assess and analyze fraud risks, implement preventive measures and developed detection and response strategies to mitigate potential fraud incidents for the group. Set-up the Fraud risk management function and run it smoothly for both the banks. Identify and implement the proactive measure from Fraud Risk prospective to ensue potential loss save for the banks.
  • Compliance and regulatory oversight – Actively monitor regulatory developments and ensure our unit’s compliance with relevant laws, regulations and industry standards. Review and recommend update on policies and procedures to reflect changes in regulations and liaise with compliance team to address any compliance gaps or concerns. Additionally, collaborate with Internal and External auditors during audits to provide necessary information and address audit findings related to retails credit operations unit.
  • Incident and Issue management – Oversee the incident and issue management process within our unit. This involves promptly identifying and reporting incidents, conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Ensure that incidents are properly documented, investigated and reported in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Team Leadership and development – Demonstrate effective leadership and people management skills to manage a team of 45+ staff for this function. Effectively recruiting training and developing team members, fostering a high-performance culture, and ensuring their continued growth and motivation. Ensure team members consistently delivered exceptional results and establish strong relationship based on trust and open communication.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance frameworks
  • Support audits, investigations, and risk assessments
  • Collaborate with internal teams to drive a strong risk culture

What We Are Looking For

  • UAE National with Family Book (Emirati)
  • 3–5 years of experience in operational risk, fraud risk, or compliance
  • Strong knowledge of UAE regulatory environment
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills

Job Knowledge

  • Retail asset operations and credit knowledge
  • Knowledge of Operational Risk Management techniques
  • Knowledge of Fraud Risk management for an asset portfolio
  • Knowledge of defining Risk Framework for quality assurance
  • Knowledge of banking systems
  • Previous experience in the Risk Function
  • Understanding of the bank operations, products, policies, regulations, and risk management is needed
