SolidWorks Designer cum AutoCAD Draftsman must be proficient in nesting files for metal cutting and will manage the end to end designing work related to operations of the manufacturing unit located in Al Hamra Industrial Area, Ras Al Khaimah. The Designer will be responsible for creating 2D and 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks / AutoCAD ensuring precision, functionality, and manufacturability of components and assemblies.
Responsibilities and duties:
1. **Designer Armored
- This role is crucial in ensuring cost-effective use of metal sheets and precise cutting.
- Create and develop detailed 3D models and 2D technical drawings, design drawings and specifications using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of client requirements and provide innovative solutions, contributing to the development of compelling product concepts and layouts.
- Prepare designs, layouts, and assemblies for manufacturing and production.
- Modify and revise existing designs based on feedback or technical requirements.
- Develop and optimize nesting files to minimize waste and ensure cost-effective use of materials.
- Demonstrate expertise in nesting and material utilization to minimize wastage, contributing to cost-effectiveness and sustainability in the production process.
- Create Bill of Materials (BOMs) and associated documentation for production.
- Must have good knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to perform tolerance analysis and ensure proper fit and function of mechanical parts.
- Collaborate closely with the production team to ensure precision and efficiency in cutting metal sheets.
- Proactively engage with suppliers or fabricators to secure alternative materials in cases of unavailability or to accommodate specific client requests, fostering a seamless and flexible production process.
- Work hand-in-hand with the production team to ensure that metal pieces are ready according to the production schedule.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with the fabrication team and R&D department to achieve the best optimal results.
- Modify and update designs as needed to accommodate new vehicle models and design changes.
- Ensure all design work adheres to company standards and project requirements.
2. **Safety :
- Oversee the materials safety precautions as per statutory norms.
- Statutory safety requirements as per manufacturing industry standards.
3. **Cost Saving Measures
- Ability to work cost-effectively and minimize material waste.
- Re-visiting nesting files and metal sheet cutting processes in regular intervals of all the existing vehicles, and modify the design to save the metal cut pieces as part of cost cutting procedure
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks mandatory .
- Qualification - B.E. or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design
- Strong experience with nesting files and metal sheet cutting processes.
- Ability to work cost-effectively and minimize material waste.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with production, fabrication, and R&D teams.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
