Job Title: Tax Accountant
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing all financial documents and vouchers to ensure full compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations. You will play a key role in identifying potential risks, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and supporting both internal and external audits and manage compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Document Review & Compliance
- Review all invoices, receipts, vouchers, and related financial documents for tax accuracy and compliance.
- Verify proper tax treatment on transactions including VAT, withholding tax, Corporate tax and as applicable.
- Ensure documentation supports claimed tax positions and deductions.
- Tax Filings & Reporting
- Prepare or assist in preparing periodic tax filings (corporate, VAT/CT, withholding, etc.).
- Maintain accurate records for tax returns and related schedules.
- Reconcile tax accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Regulatory Adherence
- Keep up to date with local, regional, and international tax laws.
- Implement changes to processes or documentation to reflect tax law updates.
- Support the organization in case of tax audits or assessments.
- Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with Accounts Payable and Receivable teams to ensure tax accuracy at the transaction level.
- Liaise with external consultants, tax advisors, and authorities as needed.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives to enhance tax compliance and reduce risk.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA/CMA preferred).
- Certification or diploma in Tax laws (an added advantage)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in tax accounting, preferably in a mid to large-size organization or public accounting firm.
- Strong knowledge of tax codes and regulations relevant to the organization’s jurisdiction(s).
- Proficient in accounting software, ERP’s and Microsoft Excel.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Exposure to international tax or transfer pricing is a plus.
- Experience working with tax consultants or participating in tax audits.
- Knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage.
