Job Title: Tax Auditor

Job Purpose
The Tax Auditor ensures compliance with UAE tax regulations by auditing internal records, reviewing tax returns, and managing the company’s VAT, Corporate Tax, and Excise Tax obligations. The role includes preparing for Federal Tax Authority (FTA) audits and advising management on tax risks and planning strategies.
Key Responsibilities Tax Auditing & Compliance
- Conduct internal audits focused on VAT, Corporate Tax, and Excise Tax compliance.
- Review tax returns and ensure timely and accurate filings with the FTA.
- Analyze business transactions to assess tax implications under UAE laws.
- Monitor tax risks and support the implementation of corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation for tax filings and transactions.
- Ensure all tax records are retained according to FTA requirements (typically 5–7 years).
- Prepare and reconcile tax accounts and schedules.
Tax Law & Regulatory Compliance
- Stay current on UAE tax legislation, including VAT Law, Corporate Tax Law, Excise Tax Regulations, and the Tax Procedures Law.
- Ensure compliance with FTA audit rules, including unannounced audits and document submission protocols.
Liaison & Advisory
- Liaise with the FTA during audits, investigations, or assessments.
- Provide tax advisory support to finance, procurement, and operations teams.
- Assist external auditors and tax consultants during reviews.
Systems & Controls
- Collaborate with the IT and ERP teams to improve tax reporting processes within systems like SAP or Oracle.
- Identify gaps in tax control processes and recommend improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation.
- Professional certifications preferred: ACCA, CPA, CA, CTA, or UAE FTA Tax Agent license.
- Minimum 3–5 years of tax audit experience, preferably in the UAE or GCC.
- Solid knowledge of:
- UAE VAT and Excise Tax regulations
- UAE Corporate Tax Law (effective from June 2023)
- FTA audit procedures and documentation standards
- Transfer pricing rules (preferred)
Skills
- Strong technical knowledge of UAE tax frameworks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Excellent analytical and attention-to-detail skills.
- Clear communication and report-writing abilities.
- Ability to work independently and under time pressure.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in petrochemical, oil & gas, or manufacturing industries.
- Exposure to Free Zone vs Mainland company tax treatment.
- Familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
