School IT Manager | Deira International School | Dubai

Role purpose:

To be overall responsible for the management and development of IT network infrastructure and ensure a safe and reliable running of all IT system to maintain a high-quality service for staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take overall responsibility for the management and development of the infrastructure of the school’s IT network, liaising with key staff to ensure that IT services meet curriculum needs
• Plan deployment of new technologies and upgrades/modification
• Have an overall view of the capabilities of the school’s IT services and contribute to continuous improvement to meet future needs to ensure competent and forward-thinking management of IT
• Keep abreast of new technological developments in IT
• In conjunction with senior management within the school, contribute to the IT budget planning process to ensure most effective and efficient use of available funds
• Liaise with appropriate staff to order equipment and software, deal with suppliers regarding IT related business.
• Line manage and take responsibility for the work of the IT support staff to ensure they carry out their duties effectively and receive adequate support
• Ensure that the school is acting responsibly and legally with respect to copyright, computer misuse and data protection
• To be the main point of reference for day-to-day eventualities
• Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required

Person Specifics

Education: Degree educated in IT or a related discipline

Minimum Experience and Knowledge: Minimum 5-year experience managing IT Infrastructure & Security services

Job-specific skills

• Project Management skills
• Student management system and Student management system
• Familiarity with school timetabling/scheduling software
• Experience with Microsoft and Google cloud technologies
• Strong Communicator to both Business and technical users
• Familiarity with school library operations using Follett Destiny
• IT security policy
• Automation of progress report, wages protection system, online library booking system
