The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for the maintenance of medical equipment’s in the facility as well as keeping the inventory of the same.
3.1 Performs inspection, inventory procedures and machine marking for incoming new equipment, prior to use.
3.2 Provides technical assistance, training and instruction to staff in the maintenance and operation of equipment.
3.3 Prepares and enters data in logs, reports, databases, forms and equipment records concerning inspections, repairs and equipment condition and operation.
3.4 Carries out regular rounds and proper, systematic preventive maintenance of all biomedical equipment’s and ensures that the problems are rectified immediately.
3.5 Analyzes equipment for failure, faults or malfunctions based on application of test instruments and reference to technical literature and schematics.
3.6 Interprets engineering and vendor information, schematic diagrams and graphic illustrations utilizing clinical, physiologic and electronic principles.
3.7 Provides engineering and technical advice to ensure compliance with electrical and other safety standards and prepare reports as required.
3.8 Works evenings, nights, week-ends and holidays according to the schedule compiled by the head of department.
3.9 Strictly adheres to organization’s regulations and policies especially those related to infection control, patient safety, EHSMS, HAAD, JCI and ISO.
3.10 Supports Continuous Quality Improvement and participates and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service.
3.11 Participates and contributes in scheduled in-service training programs, CNEs, CMEs, In house activities, conferences or other programs as requested.
3.12 Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, associates and Management.
3.13 Maintains confidentiality as per the agreement signed.
3.14 Demonstrates the ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication.
3.15 Develops thorough understanding of policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates respect for them.
3.16 Carries out other duties when requested by the Head of department.
3.17 Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply those requirements
3.18 Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
3.19 Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
3.20 Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports
3.21 Comply with Waste management procedures and policies
3.22 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
3.23 Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems
4.1 Qualification: B.E. (Biomedical) or Masters of applied Science in Bio-Medical Instrumentation or Equivalent Degree / Fellowship.
4.2 Experience: At least 3+ years of experience with B.E.
4.3 Skills: Good knowledge of English to read and understand technical literature and schematics.
4.4 Well versed with computer skills like Word and Excel.
