The Business Analyst is responsible for bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions. They gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications and support project teams in delivering effective solutions. This role involves collaboration with stakeholders, project managers, developers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of projects that meet organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and define business requirements, ensuring a clear understanding of project objectives.
- Analysis & Documentation: Analyze complex business processes and systems to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. Document requirements in the form of business cases, user stories, process flow diagrams, and functional specifications.
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as a liaison between business users, technical teams, and management, ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Solution Design: Work with development teams to design and recommend solutions that align with business needs, ensuring both technical and business feasibility.
- Testing & Validation: Assist in developing test cases and plans to validate that solutions meet the business requirements. Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure successful implementation.
- Process Improvement: Analyze current business processes and workflows, recommending process improvements and new systems where necessary to improve efficiency.
- Project Support: Support project managers in the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects, ensuring that project goals are achieved on time and within budget.
- Change Management: Help manage change processes, ensuring stakeholders are informed and prepared for changes to systems, processes, or organizational structures.
- Post-Implementation Support: Provide post-implementation support by troubleshooting issues and ensuring smooth transition and adoption of new systems or processes.
Required Skills:
- Business Acumen: Deep understanding of business processes, operations, and strategy within the relevant industry.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate business requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effectively interacting with stakeholders, clients, and technical teams.
- Documentation: Proficiency in creating clear, concise, and detailed documentation such as business cases, process flows, functional requirements, and user stories.
- Data Analysis: Competence in analyzing data, identifying trends, and making data-driven recommendations using tools such as Excel, SQL, or data visualization software.
- Technical Understanding: Basic knowledge of IT systems and development processes to effectively communicate with technical teams and understand system limitations.
- Project Management: Familiarity with project management methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall, and the ability to manage small projects or contribute to larger project efforts.
- Software Tools: Experience with business analysis tools and software, such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Visio, or similar tools for tracking and documenting business requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of business process modelling, requirements gathering, and documentation techniques.
- Experience working with stakeholders from various departments (IT, operations, finance, etc.).
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall project management methodologies.
- Prior Software development experience will an added advantage.
Preferred Experiences:
- Experience in E-Service Implementations in preferred.
- Certifications such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA), or Agile Business Analyst are preferred.
- Experience in data analysis or working with business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Knowledge of SQL or other data querying languages is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position under contract with occasional remote work opportunities.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams in an Agile or Waterfall environment.
- May require occasional travel to meet with stakeholders or support projects at different locations
