Role Summary:
A strategic and operational role responsible for managing end-to-end fuel transactions, financial and commercial performance, feasibility studies, and cost optimization. The Business Specialist collaborates with trading, finance, logistics, legal, and operations teams to support growth, compliance, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operations Management
Oversee execution of daily fuel transactions, cargo documentation, invoicing, and customs processes.
Coordinate across operations, shipping, and finance teams.
Monitor market trends to identify trading/sourcing opportunities.
2. Risk & Compliance
Ensure adherence to HSSE, environmental, and contractual standards.
3. Performance & Optimization
Track and report KPIs: margins, inventory, working capital, and risk exposure.
Conduct performance reviews and develop analytics dashboards (Power BI/Excel).
Support contract negotiations, market expansion, and sourcing strategy.
4. Financial & Strategic Analysis
Prepare reports on financial and operational performance.
Analyze market trends and competitor activity.
Lead feasibility studies on supply chain, storage, blending, and renewables.
Build financial models for investments, M&A, and JV assessments.
5. Cost & Supply Chain Optimization
Benchmark and optimize logistics, blending, and vendor contracting.
Drive automation in billing, settlement, onboarding, and reporting processes.
6. Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with suppliers, brokers, regulators, and internal teams.
Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
7. Digital Enablement & Process Improvement
Build dashboards and tools using Excel, Power BI, Python, or SQL.
Champion self-service analytics and process streamlining.
8. Business Development
Identify regional growth opportunities aligned with ESG and renewables.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- Bachelors in business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related.
- Master’s (MBA/MSc) preferred.
Experience:
- 7+ years in fuel operations, supply chain, FP&A, or commercial analytics in the energy sector.
- Strong background in feasibility analysis, cost control, and economic modeling.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced Excel, Power BI/Tableau; SQL/Python is a plus.
- ERP/ETRM experience (SAP, Allegro, Oracle, RightAngle).
- Understanding of refining economics, hedging, and fuel markets.
Core Competencies:

- Skilled in negotiation, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Thrives in fast-paced, results-oriented environments.
Certifications (Preferred):
- CFA, PMP, CSCP, CBAP, or similar
- Knowledge of ETRM, HSSE, risk, or renewables frameworks
