Introduction
Trip.com Group is seeking a Legal Counsel, EMEA to join our team in Dubai (hybrid working model). This role reports to the Legal Director, EMEA and will support legal matters across the region. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to provide commercial and regulatory legal support.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including with travel product suppliers such as airlines and hotels.
- Providing legal advice to commercial stakeholders on key projects and new initiatives.
- Compliance, in particular data protection, consumer protection, marketing / promotions and travel laws.
- Keeping up to date with new legal and compliance topics and advising the business accordingly.
- Building relationships and working with other teams in the business, such as HR, Finance, travel product Business Units, Marketing and Customer Service.
- Delivering training and guidance documents to the business on important legal topics.
- Assisting with resolving legal disputes and customer complaints.
- Developing and improving internal processes.
- Employment law matters.
- Corporate maintenance.
- Instructing local law firms.
- Supporting senior members of the legal team.
- Collaborating with other European based legal teams within the Trip.com Group, such as Travix and Skyscanner.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Law degree with a minimum of 6 years' experience in a reputable law firm or an in-house legal team, including at least 2 years of experience working in either the UAE or KSA.
- Strong technical lawyer with awareness and experience of common B2B and B2C issues and laws.
- Ability to work independently and proactively.
- A keen learner, enthusiastic about taking on new projects and getting involved in new areas.
- Commercially minded and a strategic problem solver.
- Ability to adapt and embrace change.
- Organised and able to multitask and prioritise appropriately.
- Flexible and confident to take on a broad and dynamic role.
- A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiastic about working in a multicultural business located in a range of countries.
- Experience in the travel sector would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Fluency in English is essential; Arabic proficiency is preferred.
