We are a growing, quality-driven joinery and fit-out company specializing in high-end residential, retail, and commercial interiors. As we expand, we are looking for a dedicated and experienced Estimator to join our technical team.
Job Summary
The Estimator will be responsible for breaking down AutoCAD drawings, extracting all required quantities and materials, and preparing accurate cost estimates for furniture, cabinetry, and interior fit-out works. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in AutoCAD, methodical in quantity take-off, and capable of understanding detailed shop drawings and specifications. Drafting experience is a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret detailed joinery and interior fit-out drawings and specifications.
- Perform material take-offs and quantity calculations directly from AutoCAD drawings or 3D renders.
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates, including materials, hardware, accessories, and finishing.
- Liaise with the design/drafting team to clarify details when required.
- Support drafting of shop drawings when needed.
- Request and evaluate supplier quotations for raw materials, finishes, and outsourced items.
- Prepare and maintain detailed BOQs (Bills of Quantities) and pricing sheets.
- Maintain awareness of current material costs and trends in the joinery and fit-out market.
- Work closely with project managers and procurement to ensure pricing accuracy and job profitability.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5–10 years of proven experience in estimating for joinery and fit-out projects.
- Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD – must be able to measure, extract, and calculate directly from drawings.
- Strong understanding of joinery materials (MDF, veneer, laminate, paints, hardware, etc.) and finishing processes.
- Good knowledge of furniture manufacturing processes, cabinetry components, and industry pricing standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced level).
- Ability to read and prepare detailed shop drawings (preferred).
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and logical breakdown of costs.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Drafting or design experience using AutoCAD or similar tools.
- Background in a production or manufacturing setup.
