We are seeking an experienced GL Accountant to oversee the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of financial records in compliance with industry standards. The role involves managing reconciliations, financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements specific to the retail industry.
Responsibilities
Leasing Accounts
- Maintain lease schedules in compliance with IFRS 16.
Payroll Accountant
- Verify payroll entries for accuracy and ensure correct GL postings.
- Handle accounting for full & final settlements, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
- Coordinate with HR and payroll teams for accuracy in final payments.
Tax Preparation
Lease payment process
- Prepare payments related to leases, employee settlements, and other GL-related items.
Fixed assets accounting
- Maintain the fixed asset register including additions, disposals, and transfers.
- Calculate and post monthly depreciation in compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Ensure physical verification and tagging of fixed assets.
GL accounting
- Record, track, and amortize prepaid expenses accurately.
- Reconcile prepaid accounts monthly.
Requirement:
- Degree in Finance/Accounting or Professional Accounting Qualification (e.g., CA, ACCA, CIMA).
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in accounting.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, especially IFRS 16 and related standards.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable tax, laws, and regulations.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
