Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Procurement Manager to lead our sourcing and purchasing operations in the building materials or construction industry. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of construction materials, supplier networks, and procurement best practices. This role is critical to ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of high-quality materials to support ongoing projects and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage procurement strategies for building and construction materials.
- Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers, ensuring best pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
- Monitor market trends, material costs, and availability to forecast demand and reduce procurement risks.
- Oversee purchasing processes, from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with internal controls and budgets.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, pricing, delivery, and service.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and warehouse staff to understand material requirements and timelines.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure timely updating of ERP or procurement systems.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, construction codes, and regulatory standards.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and procurement process improvements.
- Manage procurement team and support their development and performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in the building materials or construction industry.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and contract management skills.
- Solid knowledge of construction materials such as steel, cement, aggregates, timber, MEP supplies, etc.
- Proficiency in procurement software or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Familiarity with local and international supplier markets.
- Strong organizational and analytical thinking skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Certifications:
- CPP, CPSM, or equivalent supply chain/procurement certifications are a plus.
- Knowledge of green/sustainable procurement practices is an added advantage.
