Participates in the diagnosis and therapy of psychiatric illness. Serves as a professional assistant to Psychiatrists who provide psychiatric care to inpatients and outpatients with mental or psychological illnesses; and engages in preventive care as a part of an integrated program of curative and preventive medicine
3.1 Conducts psychiatric interviews and collects data for diagnostic purposes.
3.2 Provides various psychotherapies, including individual, group and family therapies.
3.3 Offers counseling for couples with marital conflicts.
3.4 Uses behavioral methods for the treatment of children and adults and plans the frequency, intensity and
duration of therapy.
3.5 Performs psychometric (mental measuring) testing for diagnosis and evaluation of therapy.
3.6 Engages in research and educational activities that will improve methods and techniques for the management
of emotionally disturbed patients.
3.7 Keeps current with ideas in the fields of personality development and adjustment, diagnosis, treatment and
prevention of mental disorders to assist in the planning of mental health progress.
3.8 Provides advice to community organizations and participates in related psychological and welfare activities.
3.9 Takes after hours or weekend calls as required by specific cases or in emergency situations as requested.
3.10 Performs related duties as assigned by the Head of Department
3.11 To follow appropriate international guidelines, HAAD regulations and Joint Commission International norms
while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties.
3.12 Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital
management to comply those requirements
3.13 Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
3.14 Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
3.15 Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk
assessments, incident reports
3.16 Comply with Waste management procedures and policies
3.17 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
3.18 Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems
4.1 Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from a recognized college or university.
4.2 At least with 2 years' experience in the field of clinical psychology.
4.3 Comprehensive knowledge of medical ethics with regard to the obligation to maintain work confidentiality.
4.4 Working knowledge of intelligence, achievement, interest, personality and other psychological tests and
measuring devices.
4.5 Current licensure in country of origin and with HAAD license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
4.6 Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
4.7 Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients and families.
