Job Summary
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all costs related to civil engineering and construction projects, from initial estimates to final accounts. The ideal candidate will ensure that projects are completed within budget while meeting all legal and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare bill of quantities (BOQ), cost estimates, and tender documentation.
- Evaluate and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Perform cost analysis and value engineering to control project expenditures.
- Monitor project budgets and track actual costs against forecasts.
- Assist in contract administration and ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
- Prepare and certify monthly valuations and progress claims.
- Identify variations, prepare variation orders, and support in negotiation with clients/subcontractors.
- Measure and value completed works on site.
- Prepare final accounts and project close-out reports.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, site staff, and clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
- 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying within civil construction projects.
- Solid knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal requirements.
- Strong understanding of cost management, procurement, and contract principles.
- Proficient in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Candy, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, drainage, or water supply.
- Familiarity with FIDIC or other standard forms of contract.
- Experience working with both pre- and post-contract phases.
