The UAE’s independent production company GHAF TV PRODUCTIONS FZ LLC is looking for a talented, confident and enthusiastic individual to join our team in Dubai as a full-time Social Media Producer, working on the internationally renowned current affairs programme, Going Underground.
What is Going Underground?
Going Underground is a bi-weekly programme (pre-recorded as live) that offers a fresh perspective on global news and events. Our wide-ranging interviews include world leaders, global politicians, authors, entertainers, and leading experts in different fields, from all around the globe. The show has been broadcasting for over a decade, initially being produced in London, before recently relocating to the heart of the Middle East in 2022. It is sold to overseas territories in different languages including English, Spanish, and Arabic, and is distributed online and broadcast on international television channels.
What is the role?
The successful candidate will be dedicated to promoting the interviews when they air by posting clips and other content across our social media platforms, working in conjunction with our producers. They will also be responsible for posting breaking news and content related to geopolitics and current affairs, as well as coming up with new ways to promote the show and grow our social media presence. Due to our international guests being in various time zones, and the fast-paced world of news, working hours will vary, and working on weekends will be required.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will be able to start immediately and must be a current resident of the UAE. We are looking for someone with a passion for social media, world politics and current affairs. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter who is adept in using the biggest and upcoming social media platforms, knows how to generate engagement and grow an existing brand, and have a track record of creating content that stands out. You will need to be enthusiastic, proactive and have a keen eye for detail. You must be able to adapt in an ever-changing news environment, be able to work well as part of a small team and diligently on your own. This role requires you to be flexible and work at short notice, as major events and breaking news can take place without warning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Edit and publish short-form clips (X, YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, Truth Social, RedNote) from each episode.
- Develop and execute long-term, platform-specific content strategies to grow viewership and engagement.
- Optimise content for each platform, adjusting format, duration, captions, thumbnails, and posting times to align with algorithm behaviour and audience expectations.
- Track and analyse performance metrics (e.g., watch time, retention, engagement rate, click-through, follower growth) and audio-only podcast metrics, report insights and adapt strategy accordingly.
- Maintain and grow relationships with social media platform contacts and journalists where relevant.
Skills Required:
- A proven track record in social media success, and the ability to navigate censorship and shadow-banning.
- Proven experience editing vertical video content for X, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
- Strong copywriting and caption-writing skills, with the ability to match the show’s editorial tone and drive engagement.
- Ability to create compelling thumbnails and visual assets, with basic design proficiency (Photoshop or similar).
- Excellent knowledge of geopolitics, news, and current affairs.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent command of the English language.
