The Stewarding Supervisor is responsible for supervising the stewarding team to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in all kitchen and food & beverage back-of-house areas. The role ensures proper handling of equipment, adherence to safety and sanitation policies, and supports smooth kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate stewarding team members during shifts.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas, equipment, utensils, and storage areas.
- Monitor proper use and handling of chemicals and cleaning supplies.
- Control and maintain inventory of cleaning materials, kitchen utensils, and operating equipment.
- Assist in the training and development of stewarding colleagues.
- Maintain dishwashing machines and other cleaning equipment in proper working condition.
- Enforce hygiene, health, and safety standards in compliance with HACCP and hotel policies.
- Organize garbage separation, disposal, and recycling according to environmental standards.
- Support kitchen and banquet operations by ensuring sufficient equipment availability.
- Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate manpower coverage.
- Report and follow up on any maintenance issues.
- Ensure colleagues follow proper grooming and discipline standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in stewarding, a supervisory role within the hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of hygiene, sanitation, and HACCP standards.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and train a team.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of inventory and stock control.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills in English (additional languages are an advantage).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift, push, and carry heavy items (up to 25kg).
