The Storekeeper – Construction is responsible for managing the inventory of materials, tools, and equipment at the construction site. This role ensures timely receipt, safe storage, and efficient issuance of construction materials while maintaining accurate records and minimizing material losses or wastage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and document all incoming materials and tools.
- Ensure proper storage of materials in designated areas, in accordance with safety and quality standards.
- Maintain updated inventory records (manual and/or digital) including stock levels, issuance, and consumption.
- Coordinate with procurement and project teams to ensure material availability as per project requirements.
- Prepare and submit stock reports, material requisition forms, and other related documentation.
- Tag and organize tools, equipment, and materials to ensure easy access and accountability.
- Monitor material usage and notify relevant personnel of potential shortages.
- Ensure that expired, damaged, or non-compliant materials are reported and handled appropriately.
- Enforce site safety and security protocols in the storage area.
- Assist with stock audits and reconcile physical inventory with records.
Requirements:Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Diploma in Store Management / Inventory Control is a plus
Experience:
- 2–5 years of experience as a storekeeper, preferably in a construction or industrial environment
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of construction materials, tools, and equipment
- Familiarity with inventory software and MS Office (especially Excel)
- Ability to operate forklifts or other warehouse equipment (if applicable)
Soft Skills:
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
