The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for managing and optimizing the transportation and logistics operations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and efficient movement of goods and personnel. This role involves coordinating schedules, liaising with carriers, managing documentation, and monitoring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily transportation activities including scheduling, routing, and dispatching shipments.
- Communicate with carriers, vendors, and internal departments to ensure smooth logistics operations.
- Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve any transportation issues or delays.
- Prepare and maintain transportation documentation such as bills of lading, invoices, and shipment records.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation laws, regulations, and safety standards.
- Analyze transportation costs and suggest improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce expenses.
- Maintain accurate records of transportation activities and generate regular reports.
- Collaborate with warehouse and inventory teams to synchronize transportation and delivery schedules.
- Support the implementation of transportation management systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain coordination.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in transportation management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Ability to work under pressure and solve problems efficiently
- Standard business hours, with possible extended hours during peak periods.
