We are currently seeking a Wet Utilities Inspector to join our team. This project is located in Madinat Zayed, Abu Dhabi. In this role Wet Utilities Inspector will work as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team across a variety of infrastructure, buildings, transport and other project types.
Responsibilities
- Assist the RE/PM, and/or Mechanical Engineer and/or MEP Lead in performing the contractual duties on site.
- participate in review and approval of all submittals by the contractors and involves in the quality control and quality assurance.
- Inspects various facets of work on the construction site and performs continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
- Interface with the public, especially residents and business owners adjacent to the work to mitigate the construction impacts.
- Document non-conformance and may participate in determining appropriate resolution
- Performs surveillance of underground piping to ensure tightness, bedding, and grade.
- Validates piping systems, including P&ID checks and hydraulic or other pressure tests.
- Verifies equipment alignment and balancing operations. Participates in the development of quality control reports and procedures.
- Oversee and inspect all mechanical work and ensure that installation activities comply with contractual obligations and quality control standards.
- Follow-up with the contractor and support in coordinating with the utility authority regarding connections whenever required.
- Ensures that the project quality control procedures are used for the construction supervision works and monitors it for improvement.
- Monitors and coordinates all contractors' activities for this discipline.
- Performs works inspection requests and material inspection requests on a daily basis.
- Reviews and interprets discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure current re vision level and correct technical execution of the work.
- Provides resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline(s); coordinates application of solutions to ensure progress on site.
- Monitors material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline.
- Ensures that materials received meet specifications and established standards of quality.
- Organizes the accumulation of assigned discipline data for the final project turnover and report.
- Initiates and maintains records, back charge procedures, progress reports, etc., as required.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
- External Communications: Help others get the most out of external communications systems by offering support and advice.
- Construction Management: Supervise others on a construction project, working within established operational systems.
- Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
- Work Scheduling and Allocation: Assign short-term work schedules to a team of subordinates in order to achieve expectations while following established timelines.
- Performance Management: Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to improve personal performance; or monitor the performance of the team, allocate work and review completion, take appropriate corrective action to ensure timeliness and quality, and contribute to formal individual performance management and appraisal.
- Organizational Capability Building: Provide coaching to team members to develop their skills.
- Quality Assurance: Plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes. Implement corrective actions or continuous improvement initiatives and monitor them to make sure they are effective.
- Operational Compliance: Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.
What You Will Bring to the Team
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (a diploma is also acceptable for this role)
- Experience in large-scale road construction and city development projects, particularly involving sewerage and stormwater systems
- Minimum 5 years of experience in wet utilities.
- Strong understanding of deep excavation, dewatering, and utility interface works.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
