About The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and pragmatic Head of Legal to build and lead 44.01’s legal function as a true partner to our mission-led, fast-scaling business. As Head of Legal, you will serve as a strategic thought partner to our leadership, owning legal risk management, enabling commercial outcomes, and helping shape our global operating model. You will also be the first point of legal contact across the organisation, advising on commercial, corporate, regulatory, and contractual matters which are often first of their kinds. This is a unique opportunity to help define the legal backbone of a high-growth, purpose-driven company operating at the intersection of technology and climate.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the chief legal advisor to the executive team, contributing to strategy, risk, compliance, and commercial decisions.
- Lead and run our in-house legal function and manage day-to-day legal workflows.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts including NDAs, partnership agreements, CO2 offtake agreements, service contracts, procurement terms, ESOPs, IP licenses, and investment documentation.
- Act as the go-to legal partner to our Commercial, Engineering, Finance and other teams, embedding legal strategy and compliance into deal structuring, negotiations, project development, and operations
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions (UAE, Oman, UK, Norway and others as we grow).
- Support board meeting preparation, corporate filings, and liaise with external corporate secretaries as required.
- Assist in protecting our IP, knowhow, and trade secrets and ensure compliance with data privacy laws.
- Manage relationships with external law firms and specialists across multiple jurisdictions.
- Support on legal matters involving international jurisdictions, joint ventures, and grant or funding agreements.
- Ensure legal compliance across areas such as privacy, environmental reporting, and import/export regulations.
Who You Are
- You are a qualified solicitor with 4+ years’ post-qualification experience, ideally with both top-tier law firm training and in-house experience in climate, energy, infrastructure or high-growth sectors with hard assets.
- You are skilled in commercial contracts, governance, compliance, and cross- border legal issues.
- You are proactive, solution-oriented, commercially savvy, and confident in advising senior stakeholders.
- You see the law as an enabler, not a blocker.
- You take ownership, work independently, balance legal risk with business goals, and are comfortable advising senior leadership in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- You are a strong communicator who works collaboratively across functions, are values-driven, and thrive in a high-ownership culture.
- Passionate about climate action and excited to apply your legal expertise to a mission that truly matters.

- An opportunity to make a difference and join a high-potential start-up
- A chance to be at the forefront of the fight against climate change
