In the lead up to, and during Expo 2020 Dubai, one way to engage directly with the public and provide an interactive, tactile experience of the brand is through the development, distribution and marketing of licensed products. Distributed via dedicated Expo 2020 Dubai branded stores and through a wider retail distribution network, both domestic and international consumers will have a touchpoint to engage with the brand, learn about Expo 2020 and purchase licensed products.

Opportunity Responsibilities

The Retail Manager will be responsible for the management of the 3rd party contractor/s appointed to deliver the Expo 2020 product within retail stores and mobile formats, plus support other Expo-wide retail operations such as partner activations and other strategic retail operations that will be embedded into the Expo2020 experience

The position will be responsible for all aspects of retail operations including the management of the retail and/or partners, the coordination of the locations, store design (branding, branded stores, mobile retail units, etc.), marketing and merchandising of licensed products through the Expo 2020 branded retail environments and integration with the Expo 2020 Online Shop and other digital components of the visitor experience.

The main responsibilities of this role will include:
  • Management of the appointed Retail Operator/s ensuring the direction and integrity of the Dubai 2020 brand, monitor performance against sales targets, delivery of key milestones and delivery of KPIs outlined in agreements;
  • Provide strategic retail advice and solutions Expo-wide to maximise the retail opportunities;
  • Work collaboratively with the other Retail Managers to ensure delivery of the overall seamless, multi-channel retail strategy across all channels;
  • Process approvals for the use of Expo 2020 IP – Store layout (physical and digital), user experience, fixtures and fittings, internal and external signage and/or Branding, marketing collateral or any other components required for the delivery of the retail operation;
  • Work collaboratively with Finance, Legal and Procurement team members on the management of the retailer agreements, contracts and sales forecasts that drive overall sale targets and revenue to the Bureau;
  • Works with cross-functional departments such as Real Estate, Technology and Operations to ensure retail agreements are adhered to and that products and related platforms are approved, tested and launched effectively in the marketplace;
  • Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with key retailers including buyers and marketing to maximize placement and sales of licensed products, deliver significant retail marketing, media value and promotional activity and create cohesive retail programs.
Skills

6 + years of experience in account management with specific Event retail experience, as well as:

  • A Bachelor’s degree within a relevant field;
  • Strong planning and organizational skills;
  • Strong written and oral communications skills;
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft packages, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel;
  • Fluent in English is a must and Arabic beneficial;
  • Detail oriented with high attention to detail and quality.
