Job Summary: The Business Development Lead will be a strategic and results-driven professional responsible for driving sustainable growth by identifying and developing new business opportunities. This role will primarily support Sales Managers in achieving their targets by laying the groundwork for new engagements with prospective customers, strategic suppliers, and key industry stakeholders including VIP guests. This role requires a keen understanding of market dynamics, strong analytical skills, and the ability to build long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships that contribute directly to the company's financial objectives and market position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Growth & Market Expansion:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive growth strategy focused on achieving significant financial gain, expanding market share, and ensuring high levels of customer and supplier satisfaction.
- Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify new growth markets, emerging customer needs, and potential strategic supplier partners or high-value alliances.
- Identify and evaluate new product/service opportunities that align with market demands and company capabilities.
- Client & Partner Engagement Facilitation:
- Proactively identify and initiate engagement with prospective clients, strategic suppliers, and key industry influencers/VIP guests, arranging impactful business meetings for Sales Managers and senior leadership to explore collaboration opportunities.
- Support Sales Managers in promoting the company’s products and services to potential customers, effectively providing insights to address and predict their objectives and pain points.
- Assist in cultivating and managing relationships with key decision-makers within target organizations.
- Relationship & Account Management Support:
- Support the building and nurturing of long-term, sustainable relationships with both new and existing customers, assisting Sales Managers with strategic accounts.
- Establish and maintain robust relationships with critical suppliers, ensuring favorable terms, consistent quality, and collaborative development.
- Regularly assess and enhance existing customer and supplier relationships, and high-level stakeholder engagements, to identify further growth potential and mitigate risks.
- Facilitate and manage interactions with VIP guests or high-profile contacts, ensuring their needs are met and relationships are fostered for strategic advantage.
- Commercial & Contractual Support:
- Provide support in the preparation and negotiation of compelling sales contracts and partnership agreements, ensuring adherence to legal and company guidelines.
- Assist in overseeing the full sales lifecycle from initial contact through to contract signing and successful handover to relevant internal teams.
- Maintain meticulous records of sales activities, revenue forecasts, invoices, and all relevant customer, supplier, and high-level stakeholder communication.
- Operational & Financial Acumen:
- Collaborate closely with internal teams (e.g., Sales, Operations, Finance, Legal) to ensure seamless execution of new deals and effective integration of new suppliers.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance indicators related to business development activities, ensuring profitability targets are met and optimizing resource allocation.
- Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting processes, providing accurate projections based on market insights and pipeline development.
- Knowledge Sharing & Enablement:
- Provide insights and market intelligence to sales managers to help them achieve their targets.
- May assist in training and developing entry-level staff, providing guidance and performance feedback related to market understanding and relationship building.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the business development function.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
- Provide trustworthy feedback to internal stakeholders on market trends, customer demands, supplier performance, and high-level market intelligence.
- Deliver regular, comprehensive reports on business development progress, pipeline status, and strategic initiatives to senior management.
- Actively seek and utilize after-sales feedback from customers to identify areas for improvement and ensure ongoing satisfaction.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field. An MBA or relevant Master's degree is a plus.
- Experience: Proven track record in business development support, strategic partnership cultivation, market analysis, or a related role, preferably within industrial equipment, power generation and B2B sales. Experience with both customer engagement and supplier relationship management, as well as high-level stakeholder interaction, is highly desirable.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to analyze market trends, identify opportunities, and contribute to actionable growth strategies.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate insights clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, including executive-level and VIP contacts.
- Analytical & Research Skills: Strong ability to conduct thorough market research and data analysis to inform business development efforts.
- Relationship Building: Proven ability to build and maintain strong, long-term professional relationships with clients, partners, suppliers, and high-profile individuals.
