As the Contract Manager, you will play a critical role in the successful execution of construction projects by managing contracts with owners, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants. You will be responsible for contract drafting, negotiation, compliance, and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of construction-related contracts, including prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase agreements, and change orders.
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, legal counsel, and other stakeholders to ensure contract alignment with project scopes and company objectives.
- Monitor contract compliance and enforce contractual obligations across all phases of construction.
- Support bid and proposal efforts by reviewing RFPs, RFQs, and tender documents.
- Maintain accurate records of contract documents, amendments, and correspondence.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities within contracts and advise leadership accordingly.
- Coordinate with legal and insurance teams on claims, disputes, and regulatory issues.
- Assist in training staff on contract administration and best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of contracting processes, templates, and tools.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Law, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in contract management within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of construction project delivery methods, legal frameworks, and risk mitigation strategies
- Experience working with construction contract types such as AIA, DBIA, and FIDIC
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, scopes of work, and technical specifications
- Proficiency with contract management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred:
- Experience with public works or government-funded construction projects
- Familiarity with lien laws, insurance requirements, and bonding
- Certification (e.g., Certified Professional Contracts Manager – CPCM, or equivalent)
