Broader and deeper electrical knowledge, including a general understanding of the nature of electricity and all of the hazards associated with it. More extensive safety training and more experience performing a variety of electrical tasks.
Responsibilities:
1. Electrical Planning & Layout
- Review drawings, blueprints, and fit-out plans.
- Plan electrical routing for lighting, power outlets, panels, and equipment.
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, and other trades for accurate installations.
2. Installation Works
- Install conduits, wiring, distribution boards, switches, sockets, and lighting fixtures.
- Set up temporary site power and ensure safe connections for construction use.
- Handle specialized installations such as fire alarm systems, CCTV, data cabling, and access controls if required.
3. Renovation & Upgrading
- Upgrade or replace outdated electrical systems to meet current codes.
- Re-route or conceal wiring to align with new interior designs.
- Retrofit energy-efficient lighting and smart systems.
4. Testing & Commissioning
- Conduct insulation resistance, continuity, and load testing.
- Ensure all circuits are correctly labeled and documented.
- Commission systems and hand over with compliance certificates.
5. Safety & Compliance
- Follow local regulations, DEWA/ADDWEA/other authority requirements.
- Implement proper grounding and protection systems (MCB, RCD, ELCB).
- Ensure all work meets health and safety standards on-site.
6. Coordination & Reporting
- Work closely with carpenters, masons, HVAC technicians, and other trades to avoid conflicts.
- Report progress, material needs, and any site issues to supervisors or project managers.
- Keep updated documentation for as-built drawings and maintenance manuals.
