Job Summary:
The Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the fabrication team in a mechanical manufacturing environment. This role ensures all fabrication work is completed safely, on time, within specifications, and according to company quality standards. The supervisor plays a key role in managing manpower, materials, machines, and workflow to optimize efficiency and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all fabrication activities, including cutting, forming, welding, and assembly.
- Plan daily work schedules and assign tasks to fabrication technicians and welders.
- Ensure all fabricated components meet technical drawings, tolerances, and quality standards.
- Monitor production output to meet deadlines and customer delivery targets.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and fabrication specifications.
- Inspect fabricated components for dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
- Collaborate with design, quality control, and maintenance teams to resolve production issues.
- Enforce safety procedures and ensure that all team members follow health and safety guidelines.
- Train and mentor team members on new fabrication techniques and tools.
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, work orders, time tracking, and materials usage.
- Recommend improvements to processes, equipment, and layout to enhance productivity.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in fabrication, including 2+ years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques: cutting, bending, punching, welding, and finishing.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and fabrication symbols.
- Familiarity with metalworking machinery and tools (e.g., press brakes, shears, CNC plasma).
- Understanding of workplace safety regulations and quality standards.
- Good leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficient in using MS Office and production management systems.
