Assignment Description
The HSSE Advisor supports the HSSE Manager and Project leadership in delivery of HSSE excellence and continuous improvement, delivery of the requirements of the HSSE Plan and interface arrangements.
They will be proactive in approaching HSSE management and build positive relationships throughout the workforce by regular worksite engagement, developing trust and offering support, guidance and intervention where necessary.
This will be achieved by:
- Developing positive and collaborative working relationships with their counterparts in the client and contractor’s HSSE Teams.
- Monitoring day to day project activities and providing assurance to project management that the client staff and contractors are compliant.
- Participating in daily Toolbox Talks and pre-task briefings.
- Coaching and influencing others in industry best safety practices and Project and personal safety commitments.
- Reporting of safety concerns to the contractors’ project management or supervision.
Accountabilities
- Support the project and key stakeholders in preventing work related illnesses and injuries and with no harm to people or the environment.
- Perform the author and reviewer role for defined Project HSSE procedures as required.
- Perform regular site visits in accordance with the HSSE Activities Plan and as directed by line manager.
- Routinely attend, provide input, and offer feedback into toolbox talks and pre-task briefings.
- Input and facilitate (as required) task-based risk assessments and risk management activities.
- Support and/or lead incident investigations.
- Support and/or lead HSSE audits.

Assist the Project team and be a driving force with focus on:
o Mapping and risk assessing the working environment.
o Preventive efforts to ensure good health.
o Advising on work-related health and safety risks Advising on work-related health and safety risks
Support the HSSE Manager with the development and analysis of HSSE reports and trends to ensure continuous improvement.
Transfer of best practices and experience between our Project and its contractors.
Stay current on industry best practices and applicable regulations.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of HSE-programs, procedures, initiatives, awareness campaigns, videos, HSE-handbooks and general HSSE information materials.
Contribute to continuous improvement in health and work environment performance.
Identify HSSE gaps and ensure closure thereof.
Develop and deliver HSSE Training content and keep records of completion.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent.
- Audit Qualification with evidence of auditing against relevant standards, contracts, and procedures.
- Working knowledge of incident investigation and various methodologies.
- Detailed understanding of risk assessment process.
- Relevant O&G, energy, or construction experience.
- Clear evidence of providing HSSE support.
- Experience working on major capital projects in a multi-cultural environment.
- Demonstrable evidence of contractor management.
- Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office applications.
- English proficiency both speaking and writing.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn and take instruction, and capable of supporting and uplifting others.
- Capacity to work to deadlines and deliver activities to schedule.
- Ability and flexibility to live and work in the UAE.
Desired
- University Degree in relevant field (Engineering, Health and Safety, Security, Emergency Management, Environment).
- Lead Auditor Qualification.
- Lead Investigator Qualification or Incident Investigation Methodology credential.
- COSHH awareness/assessor qualification.
- Minimum 5 years project HSSE experience in yard/dry dock construction site.
- Proficiency in Norwegian or Arabic.
- Expert computer skills (Microsoft Forms, Power Bi, mobile application software.
