Job Description
Job Summary:
The Civil Inspector is responsible for on-site inspection and monitoring of civil and infrastructure works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and relevant standards. The role involves day-to-day site supervision, documentation, and coordination with contractors to ensure that construction activities are executed as per the quality requirements, project schedule, and safety standards. The Civil Inspector provides support to the supervision team by reporting non-conformances and assisting in resolving technical issues on-site.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Site Inspection & Compliance:
- Inspect civil works including excavation, backfilling, road works, utility installation, manholes, kerbs, and pavement layers.
- Ensure construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved shop drawings, method statements, ITPs, and project specifications.
- Verify lines, levels, and grades as per design drawings and approved survey benchmarks.
- Quality Assurance & Control:
- Monitor the implementation of the contractor’s quality control procedures.
- Identify and report any non-conformance or defective work and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Witness material testing and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed daily records of construction activities, manpower, and equipment on site.
- Prepare and submit daily inspection reports, NCRs, and observation notices as required.
- Assist in reviewing method statements, ITPs, and material submittals when required.
- Coordination & Communication:
- Liaise with the contractor’s site engineers, foremen, and surveyors to resolve site issues.
- Coordinate with utility authorities and third parties during inspection or tie-in activities.
- Escalate issues to the ARE or RE when necessary for resolution.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
- Monitor compliance with HSE requirements on-site and report any violations.
- Participate in site safety briefings and toolbox talks as needed.
- Technical Support:
- Provide feedback on site constructability or discrepancies to the ARE/RE for clarification.
- Assist in resolving unforeseen site conditions and propose suitable remedial actions.
Qualifications
Qualification
- Technical Institute Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in relevant Engineering field (i.e. Civil, Structural etc.)
Experience
- The ideal candidate to be Civil Engineering graduate with minimum 7 years’ experience in similar projects.
- Middle East experience preferred.
- Relevant experience in comparable roads and bridges projects.
