Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities in the joinery workshop.
- Ensure production targets, schedules, and deadlines are met without compromising quality.
- Monitor machine operations and manual work to optimize output and reduce waste.
- Manage and guide carpenters, machinists, polishers, and other factory staff.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure proper labor allocation per project requirements.
- Train and mentor junior workers and ensure skill development.
- Inspect incoming materials and finished joinery products to ensure quality standards are met.
- Implement corrective actions for non-conformities or defects in workmanship.
- Ensure compliance with client specifications, drawings, and shop drawings.
- Enforce safety rules and procedures on the shop floor.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to workplace safety standards.
- Report incidents and implement preventive measures.
- Coordinate with project engineers, designers, and planning departments to understand production requirements.
- Liaise with storekeepers for timely material availability.
- Provide regular updates to the factory or production manager on job progress.
- Ensure machines, tools, and equipment are in good working condition.
- Schedule regular maintenance and report faults or breakdowns.
- Minimize downtime through proactive maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Maintain production records, work orders, and job completion reports.
- Track worker attendance, output, and performance.
- Help in inventory control and usage tracking of raw materials and consumables.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma or trade certificate in Carpentry, Wood Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a joinery factory, including supervisory roles.
- Strong knowledge of joinery production processes, machines, materials, and finishes.
- Ability to read and interpret joinery and architectural drawings.
- Practical knowledge of woodworking machinery (e.g., CNC, panel saws, edge banders, etc.).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
