The Opportunity
We are hiring a Lead Counsel for IMETA, based in Dubai, to join our dynamic and purpose-driven team. Reporting to the Head of Legal & Compliance IMETA, this is a high-impact role where you will suppport our Animal Health business and partner closely with business leaders to shape strategic decisions, manage legal risk, and drive operational excellence across a diverse and fast-evolving region.The role primarily supports our Animal Health business.
Role & Responsibilities
• Negotiate complex commercial and strategic relationships with business counterparts.
• Prepare, draft, review, negotiate, and finalize legal documents including bespoke commercial contracts and templates.
• Support the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Manage contentious matters, commercial disputes, and litigation with timely risk mitigation strategies.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and implement proactive mitigation plans.
• Drive local implementation of corporate legal and compliance SOPs.
• Lead legal projects aligned with ROPU strategic goals and legal department improvements.
Requirements
• Degree in Law; LLM and bar admission (qualified lawyer) required.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience as an in-house lawyer, preferably in life sciences or other highly regulated sectors.
• Arabic and French language skills preferred.
• Regional experience in within META is a plus.
• Strong risk-adjusted decision-making and judgment across diverse legal areas.
• Excellent analytical, influencing, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated gravitas and ability to build trust.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholder demands simultaneously.
• Resilient and confident in providing independent legal advice.
• Experience representing legal in region-wide strategic initiatives.
• Skilled in managing external counsel relationships
