Job Summary:
The MEP Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs related to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems on construction projects. This role involves cost estimation, contract administration, procurement support, and cost control to ensure value for money while maintaining quality and compliance with project specifications and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for MEP works (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, ELV, etc.).
- Analyze MEP drawings, specifications, and contractual documents to ensure accurate pricing and scope understanding.
- Prepare and manage Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for MEP packages.
- Support the tendering process, including preparation of tender documentation, evaluation of bids, and negotiation with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Track and manage project costs, monitor budgets, and report on variances.
- Evaluate variation orders (VOs), change requests, and assist in claim preparation and negotiation.
- Participate in value engineering exercises and provide cost-saving recommendations.
- Review and verify subcontractor invoices, progress payments, and final accounts.
- Liaise with MEP engineers, consultants, and site teams to gather data and resolve quantity or cost issues.
- Maintain proper documentation for commercial and contractual records.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, specifically in MEP works within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems, construction methods, and relevant codes and standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and quantity surveying software such as CostX, Candy, or similar.
- Familiarity with FIDIC, JCT, or other standard forms of contract is a plus.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Working Conditions:
- Based in the office and/or on construction sites.
- May require extended hours depending on project stage and deadlines.
