Job Summary
The European University, Rak Campus, invites applications for a full-time position as Professor of Psychology. We seek a scholar with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and/or graduate programs, supervise student research, and actively participate in departmental and university-wide initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Academic & Research Expertise
- In-depth knowledge of psychological theories and subfields (e.g., cognitive, clinical, social, developmental, neuropsychology).
2. Teaching & Curriculum Development
- Lesson planning and course design aligned with learning outcomes.
- Effective lecturing and presentation skills.
- Student assessment and grading using rubrics and feedback systems.
- Mentoring and supervising undergraduate, master’s, and PhD students.
- Online and hybrid teaching proficiency (e.g., using LMS like Canvas, Blackboard).
3. Communication & Interpersonal Skills
- Clear communication of complex psychological concepts.
- Active listening and empathy, especially if involved in clinical training.
- Collaborative teamwork with academic peers and research partners.
- Cross-cultural competence in diverse classroom and research settings.
4. Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
- Evaluating psychological literature critically.
- Identifying gaps in knowledge and forming research questions.
- Applying ethical reasoning in both teaching and research.
5. Ethical & Professional Conduct
- Adherence to APA/ethical guidelines in research and practice.
- Commitment to academic integrity and fostering the same in students.
- Responsible conduct of research (RCR) training and implementation.
6. Administrative & Leadership Abilities
- Committee participation (e.g., admissions, tenure review, research ethics).
- Curriculum coordination or departmental leadership.
- Academic advising and student development.
- Time and project management across teaching, research, and service roles.
- Research design and methodology (quantitative and qualitative).
- Statistical analysis (SPSS, R, or Python).
- Scientific writing and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
- Grant writing and securing research funding.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited institution
- Demonstrated potential or established record of scholarly publications.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the university level.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and service.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching in a multicultural or international academic environment.
- Record of securing or potential to secure external research funding.
- Fluency in English; additional language(s), particularly those relevant to the region, are a plus.
