s a Recovery and Bus Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of passengers on scheduled routes and providing recovery services for disabled or immobilized buses. This role requires strong driving skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to handle challenging situations in a professional manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Safe Bus Operation:
Operate buses on scheduled routes following established routes and timetables.
Ensure the safety of passengers by adhering to traffic laws and following safety procedures.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in safe working condition.
Passenger Assistance:Provide excellent customer service by assisting passengers with boarding, fare collection, and answering their questions.
Ensure the comfort and well-being of passengers during transit.
Recovery Services:
Respond to disabled or immobilized buses, providing assistance in a timely and safe manner.
Use specialized recovery equipment to move, tow, or repair buses as needed.
Maintain communication with the transportation manager and dispatch to coordinate recovery efforts.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Maintain cleanliness and order inside the bus.
Report any maintenance issues or defects to the maintenance department.
Keep accurate records of vehicle inspections and maintenance.
Safety and Compliance:
Comply with all safety regulations and procedures, including passenger safety, bus operation, and recovery protocols.
Attend training sessions to stay updated on safety and regulatory requirements.
Reporting:
Complete daily reports, including passenger counts, mileage, and any incidents.
Report accidents or safety violations to the transportation manager and assist in the investigation as needed.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the necessary endorsements for the specific type of bus being driven (e.g., Class A or B CDL).
- Clean driving record with no history of accidents or traffic violations.
- Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations in the operating area.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and emergencies calmly and professionally.
- Physical fitness and ability to sit for extended periods and assist passengers with their needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Willingness to undergo background checks and drug/alcohol testing as required.
- Prior experience as a bus driver is a plus.
