Job Summary:
The Welding Supervisor oversees all welding operations within the mechanical manufacturing facility. This role ensures that welding activities meet quality standards, comply with safety regulations, and are completed on schedule. The supervisor is responsible for managing the welding team, monitoring productivity, maintaining equipment, and contributing to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of welders and welding operations.
- Assign tasks and monitor performance to ensure work is completed efficiently and on time.
- Interpret welding blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Inspect welding work to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASME, AWS).
- Train and mentor welders in techniques, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, quality control, and production planning teams.
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure calibration and maintenance schedules are followed.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols.
- Track production targets, report progress, and suggest process improvements.
- Manage inventory of welding materials and consumables.
- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of welding procedures and inspections.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in welding, including 2+ years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, SMAW), materials, and techniques.
- Familiarity with mechanical manufacturing standards and safety codes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
- Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in using welding equipment, measuring tools, and safety gear.
