We are looking for a responsible and experienced Civil Chargehand to assist the Civil Foreman in supervising daily site activities and leading a team of workers in the execution of civil engineering and construction projects. The Chargehand will ensure the efficient use of materials and labor, enforce site safety, and maintain quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Civil Foreman in managing and supervising on-site civil works.
- Lead a team of skilled and unskilled workers in performing tasks such as concreting, excavation, shuttering, masonry, and steel reinforcement.
- Ensure all work is carried out according to plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Monitor progress and report issues, delays, or material shortages to the Foreman or Site Engineer.
- Allocate and supervise daily tasks assigned to laborers and tradesmen.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure all workers wear proper PPE.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization on-site.
- Assist with site measurements and basic surveying tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in civil construction work.
- Proven leadership ability in a construction environment.
- Ability to read basic technical drawings and understand work instructions.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
