Position Summary:
The Head Barista is a key leadership role responsible for delivering an exceptional coffee experience and leading the barista team at HalfCup Dubai.
As a brunch-led specialty coffee concept, HalfCup requires a Head Barista who can maintain outstanding quality, drive consistency, and build a positive team culture — ensuring our coffee offering stands out in Dubai’s competitive café scene.
The Head Barista will oversee all aspects of coffee preparation, equipment maintenance, training, inventory, and daily bar operations, working closely with the General Manager and FOH/BOH teams to create an exceptional guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Coffee Quality & Consistency
- Maintain daily quality control of all coffee and beverage offerings.
- Lead all dial-in procedures and ensure consistency across all shifts.
- Set and maintain SOPs for coffee preparation and service.
- Innovate and contribute to seasonal menus and signature drinks.
- Manage bean rotation and profile adjustments according to roast date and service flow.
Leadership & Training
- Lead and manage the barista team (Senior Barista, Junior Baristas).
- Provide daily coaching and on-the-floor training to maintain standards.
- Conduct structured training sessions for new hires and ongoing development.
- Foster a positive, professional, and passionate barista culture.
- Conduct regular skills assessments and help team progress.
Operational Excellence
- Manage bar inventory, stock levels, and ordering in coordination with suppliers.
- Monitor and manage wastage and cost of goods (COGs).
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards of all bar and equipment areas.
- Ensure all equipment (La Marzocco, Mythos, EK43, batch brewers, etc.) is properly maintained and serviced.
- Lead by example on efficiency, speed of service, and guest interaction.
Guest Experience & Brand Representation
- Act as a brand ambassador for HalfCup’s coffee program.
- Ensure the bar team delivers an engaging and warm guest experience at all times.
- Actively support guest education about coffee offerings when appropriate.
- Collaborate with GM and Duty Manager to ensure smooth floor-to-bar coordination.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 3–5 years experience in specialty coffee, with at least 1–2 years in a Head Barista or Senior Barista leadership role.
- Expertise in:
- Espresso dial-in & calibration
- Milk steaming & latte art
- Filter coffee / batch brew / manual brew
- Strong experience with La Marzocco, Mythos, EK43, and other high-end equipment.
- Experience in pre-opening or new concept launches preferred.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Strong understanding of inventory management, COGs control, and ordering.
- Familiarity with Dubai Municipality health & hygiene requirements.
- Passion for coffee culture and guest experience.
- Fluent in English
