Launched in 2019, Taptap is tapping into a transformative shift in global finance: from banks to phones. While this has affected wealthier countries as well, it has been nothing short of a revolution for the emerging markets where the overwhelming majority of population had been unable to access digital finance previously. Taptap Send allows immigrants to send money home instantly and with no fee*, saving money in the process. With a formal market size of >700B alone, we’ve got a lot more saving to do for our users. Role
We are looking for an ambitious legal professional who is excited to take on a broader business leadership role. You will be a key member of our legal team, handling a variety of matters from corporate / financing projects to key commercial contracts, and you'll be able to take on an exciting challenge: leading our People Operations team. This role is perfect for a lawyer who thrives on variety and isn't afraid to step outside their comfort zone. You’ll get hands-on experience with complex legal work in a high-growth environment, while simultaneously developing the people leadership skills.
Location: London, New York, Paris or Dubai
Responsibilities
Advise the business on and manage key projects such as debt/equity financing or expansion into new markets, with the help of external counsel
Draft, review, and negotiate key commercial agreements
Assist in a variety of other legal areas such as disputes, intellectual property, and employment law as needed
Collaborate with the broader legal team to assess and communicate risks, crafting innovative solutions that align business objectives with the evolving legal landscape
Proactively identify risks and work with internal and external stakeholders to create actionable strategies
Handle complex employee relations matters
Requirements
Based in one of the locations mentioned above
Legally qualified lawyer (any jurisdiction)
Ideally, have in-house experience (preferably at a start-up/scale-up)
Have strong organizational skills and can autonomously manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment
Excited by new challenges and comfortable operating outside your comfort zone
An exceptional communicator, able to explain complex concepts simply
Capable of holding firm on policies and handling complex situations
Excel at identifying root causes of complex problems and designing practical solutions
Highly analytical and proficient in Excel
Fluent in English
