About the Role:
TThe incumbent in the Maintenance Technician role is responsible for performing hands-on maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment used within GMG Foods processing operations. The Maintenance Technician ensures that all equipment is maintained in optimal working condition by conducting regular inspections, diagnosing malfunctions, and executing repair and preventive maintenance tasks. This role is essential to minimize downtime, support production efficiency, and uphold GMG’s standards for safety and equipment reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct preventative maintenance of equipment as per the schedule. Identify problems as they arise, informing Maintenance Supervisor of deviations, or when unfamiliar with situations.
- Assist Maintenance Supervisor with daily maintenance tasks and in case of any breakdown activities.
- Assisting in implementing preventive maintenance schedules, inspect equipment for wear and potential issues, and replace faulty components promptly to avoid breakdowns.
- Compliance with HACCP/GMP standards.
- Document maintenance activities, manage tools and spare parts inventory, and adhere strictly to safety protocols.
- Perform any other assignments as required by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Working closely with production staff, the incumbent will provide input to enhance machine performance, recommend improvements for machinery efficiency, and contribute to a safe and effective maintenance culture within the facility.
Required skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience in machine operation/technical work within frozen food industry.
- High School Diploma or ITI trade certificate (electrical/mechanical).
- Basic knowledge of MEP and food hygiene.
- Skilled in setting parameters and molds for processing/packaging machines.
- Strong knowledge of safety procedures and equipment handling.
- Proficient in preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Effective communication and accurate documentation of maintenance activities.
