Job Title:
Purchase Assistant – Material Testing & Laboratory Equipment
Job Purpose:
To support procurement activities related to material testing and laboratory equipment. This includes timely sourcing, quotation analysis, vendor coordination, and ensuring technical compliance and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and evaluate suppliers for material testing and lab equipment (e.g., universal testing machines, ovens, balances, environmental chambers).
- Request and analyze quotations based on pricing, specifications, and certifications.
- Assist in issuing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and following up with suppliers.
- Coordinate with QA/QC and Laboratory departments for equipment requirements.
- Ensure all equipment complies with necessary standards (ISO, IEC, ASTM, etc.).
- Maintain purchase records, supplier communication logs, and product catalogs.
- Follow up on sample approvals, technical documentation, and delivery lead times.
- Assist with import/customs documentation and logistics coordination.
- Maintain inventory records and ensure uninterrupted procurement flow.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation, Procurement, or a relevant Science discipline.
- 1–3 years of experience in procurement, preferably for lab or technical equipment.
- Fresh graduates with strong interest and relevant technical knowledge will also be considered.
Skills Required:
- Basic technical knowledge of lab/testing equipment.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP tools.
- Detail-oriented approach in reviewing specifications and certifications.
- Knowledge of vendor certifications (e.g., CE, ISO, IECEx) is an added advantage.
