Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ADNOC-Approved Safety Officer to oversee health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance on a major tunnel construction project. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in underground infrastructure projects and a comprehensive understanding of ADNOC's HSE standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure Compliance: Implement and monitor adherence to ADNOC HSE regulations, UAE labor laws, and international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001) on-site. samcintl.com
- Risk Assessments: Conduct thorough risk assessments, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Hazard Identification (HAZID), particularly focusing on tunnel-specific hazards.
- Permit to Work (PTW): Manage and enforce PTW systems for high-risk activities such as confined space entry, hot work, and working at heights.
- Site Inspections: Perform daily site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and conduct emergency response drills and training sessions tailored to tunnel construction scenarios.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into any incidents or near-misses, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, and training activities.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications: NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) is mandatory. Additional certifications such as IOSH or OSHA are advantageous.
- ADNOC Approval: Must possess a valid ADNOC HSE Approval Certificate.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in HSE roles within the oil and gas industry.
- Skills: Proficient in conducting risk assessments, implementing control measures, and delivering safety training. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Preferred Attributes:
- Familiarity with ADNOC's specific HSE codes and standards.
- Experience with H2S safety procedures and gas testing in confined spaces.
- Ability to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
