Context:
The Track Inspector is responsible for the inspection, monitoring, and reporting of all railway track construction and installation activities performed by contractors. You will ensure all track works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, standards, contract requirements, and safety regulations, protecting the client’s interests and supporting overall project quality and delivery
Missions/Main Duties:
- Conduct regular inspections of installed rails, ballast, sleepers, fastenings, switches, crossings, and other track-related components.
- Ensure track geometry, alignment, and level are constructed in line with approved technical drawings and specifications.
- Check the suitability and compliance of track materials and verify correct installation procedures.
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with contract terms, international/national standards (AREMA, UIC, EN, or project specifications), quality plans, and approved method statements.
- Identify, document, and report non-conformances, deficiencies, and deviations.
- Prepare and maintain daily inspection reports, photographic records, and other relevant site documentation.
- Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), track resolution, and contribute to quality assurance reviews.
- Coordinate with contractors, construction teams, client representatives, and other PMC technical and quality staff to resolve site issues and ensure smooth progress.
- Participate in site meetings, present inspection findings, and provide technical input as required.
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum (5) years’ experience in the required field of expertise for railway and in a PMC or Consultant role.
- Strong understanding of railway track construction standards, materials, and quality control practices.
- Familiarity with relevant international and local trackwork standards.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret specification
